COLOURED FLOWERS
|
There is a flower whose petals are white
this precious flower glows in the night
when one holds the flower too tight
all the other flowers die of fright
There is a flower whose petals are red
she understands why her blood is shed
. . . . . . when she bleeds she is fed
and there's no such thing as dead
There is a flower whose petals are gold
see how her petals unfold
whether the weather is hot or cold
for her heart is brave and bold
There is a flower whose petals are black
she blooms along the dreaming track
doesn't look foreward or back
'cause she has that special knack
of being herself and all the rest
know being themselves is best.

NOOSA'S SONG |
Kookaburras awake us each and every sunrise
We who live here in Noosa live in paradise
Riding waves on her beaches under aqua blue skies
We who live here in Noosa live in paradise
Flowing with Noosa river into lakes open wide
The everglades deliver a safe place inside
>From Peregian to Kin Kin as the eagle flies
We who live here in Noosa live in paradise
Flowing with Noosa river into lakes open wide
The everglades deliver a safe place inside
>From Peregian to Kin Kin from sunset to sunrise
We who live here in Noosa, live in paradise
Home is here in Noosa, home is paradise

THE BRIDGE |
round like my belly before I give birth
round like the sun, moon, sky and earth
round like the ripples where a stone falls
round like brightly coloured beach balls
round like the rainbow joining hill to hill
round like a sharp-eyed eagle's bill
round like a daddy long leg's back
round like a never ending track
round like the oceans' green and blue
round like the morning drops of dew
round like my man's undying love
round like the flight of an emerald green dove
round like the seed that became our son
I give thanks for the bridge dear one

CIRCLE OF LIFE |
when sisters love each other
and our hearts beat as one
happy is our earthmother
and life is full of fun
for laughter runneth over
when our cup is filled with joy
and we soon discover
within each girl's a boy
and fathersky rejoices
in our every breath
as we sing with voices
beyond even death
so let us pray together
in the bees' harmonising hum
and may peace reign forever
'cause the best is yet to come

SISTERS |
Sisters, sisters coming together
sisters, sisters loving forever
daughter, mother and grandmother
sharing, caring for one another
Sisters, sisters of the dreaming
sisters, sisters moonlight beaming
daughter, mother and grandmother
sharing, caring for one another
Sisters, sisters here on earth
sisters, sisters celebrate birth
daughter, mother and grandmother
sharing, caring for one another
Sisters, sisters laughing and playing
sisters, sisters quietly praying
daughter, mother and grandmother
sharing, caring for one another
Sisters, sisters of many lands
sisters, sisters holding hands
daughter, mother and grandmother
sharing, caring for one another
Sisters, sisters living together
sisters, sisters loving forever |
Sisters is a song (not recorded yet) I wrote at one of Ann Thomas'
women's dreaming camps - it was published in her Koori Tu Ku newsletter
and also republished by the women who held a weekend gathering on the
Gold Coast in their newsletter.

THE HEROINE |
There was a girl sweet and pure
she was so sure
her life would be filled with love
she sang her songs to the God above
Then one day he came along
wanted to own her lovely song
He used sweet words like honey they flowed
she was trapped nowhere to go
and the years went by in her cage of gold
with each sigh she grew old
As she bent, bent right down
with her face close to the ground
She heard the Goddess of the earth
whispering it's me who gave you birth
and she saw the mystery in her eyes
now love entered her sighs
She began to sing a different song
deeper and deeper till her pain was gone
And the world praised a heroine
whose heart could love everything
like the ripples of a calm, calm sea
her love flows out for you and me
Can you hear it? Can you feel it?
Can you hear it? Shhhhh shhh
sounds of ocean waves, running waters,
falling rain, whales, dolphins . . . .
